I wanted to be in the studio more than I was this week. I took Labor day to rot, which felt good at the time but the guilt of wasting hours I could have spent in the stud was rough. Wednesday I went to Habitat restore where I found the cabinet doors I was looking for, but they had a ridiculous amount of the landlord special. I got them for 90 cents so I can't complain. I kinda find the “restoration” process soothing and satisfying. I also started the leech that will go with the door. I’ve had this piece in my head for a while now and I hope that it works or I hope that it turns out enough like what I am picturing in my head because I'm attached to that idea. I had this crazy ambition to finish the entire piece for the nceca deadline but I don't think it will happen. I don't want to rush it. Which kinda sucks cuz now I don't think I will have anything to submit to that call. My work is too fragile and Salt Lake is too far away so I’m going to be okay with opting out. Instead I'm shifting my next application goal to the Arrowmont national, and possibly the Evansville Museum. Both are due at the end of the month, a much more doable timeline.
Conversions around our semester plans were good and I look forward to next weeks!
