Collaborated with June on a ladybug.
Finished my mini- I’m definitely learned a lot from sculpting bugs little. Many things that I hope will translate to larger sculptures in the future. I might also just stay in the little realm for the remainder of this semester?
We finished the statue of Simon Kenton this week. We got that clay rendering in early September 2023 and almost exactly 13 months later it's in bronze. Standing at 9 feet tall this is the largest bronze cast the foundry has done in a long time, if ever? Definitely the largest thing I've ever casted. The same artist has another 9 foot statue in wax and waiting to be dipped and cast. There is rumored another 2 in the same size and style for a series of 4. I don't like the content of the work or necessarily the style but I’m really proud to have seen and worked on this from start to finish. I really hope the skills I’ve been learning and honing on will be applied to work of my own someday. I’d love to make some large public art of a bug.
